This 60-year old patient was unhappy with the excess bulging of skin and extra tissue around her abdomen area due to significant weight loss. This 45-year old mother from Lakeside, California (East County San Diego) was interested in a Mommy Makeover. After pregnancy and nursing 3 children, the patient was determined to get her body back into shape. She lost 65lbs through diet and exercise but was still unhappy with her post-weight loss, post-baby body.

The patient had many goals. Due to significant weight loss, the elasticity of her skin was stretched, leaving her with loose and excess skin. She wanted her breasts to be fuller and perkier and a “tight” flat tummy. The patient was very interested in tummy tuck surgery (abdominoplasty), breast lifting (mastopexy) and breast augmentation surgery, also known as a mommy makeover.

The patient researched for a board certified plastic surgeon that had a lot of experience in performing mommy makeovers in the San Diego area. Through word-of-mouth, she heard about Dr. Pousti and decided to meet with him for a consultation. She was very impressed that he was Double Board Certified in General Surgery, as well as, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.  She liked that she was able to meet with his patients and had all her questions answered. After meeting with him and his staff, she decided to proceed with surgery. Both the patient and Dr. pousti worked together to prepare a plan to achieve the patient’s goals. After careful planning, they decided that the patient would benefit from an extended tummy tuck, which would flatten the tummy and prevent a “muffin top” look in the flank area.

The night before surgery, the patient came in to meet with the Dr. and “markings” were performed to provide a detailed plan.   At this visit, careful measurements were made and the procedures were discussed in detail.  The nipple-areola complex would be raised and centralized on the breasts to improve the “sagging” look, the breast would be fuller with the placement of the breast implants and the extended tummy tuck would take care of contouring the abdominal area.

Markings are re-establish on the day of surgery.

The patient is now 3-months post op of an extended tummy tuck (standard tummy tuck with back lipectomy) and breast augmentation with a lift(mastopexy). In order to achieve fullness in the breasts, Dr. Pousti placed 390cc saline-filled implants under the muscle and lifted the breasts using a “lollipop” incision. The patient is extremely happy with the results of her surgery.

It amazes me how much one’s life can be changed for the better under theinfluence of a positive attitude and incredible support. On May 30, 2006, I underwent Gastric Bypass Surgery performed by Dr. George Zorn at Pacific Bariatrics. I was eating healthier, exercising regularly, thanks to mypersonal trainer, and enjoying my healthy lifestyle.

Plastic Surgery Procedures Performed After Massive Weight Loss

I had my extended tummy tuck, breast lift and breast augmentation on May 4, 2007 at Alvarado Hospital. On that morning, I met with Dr. Pousti to answer any last minute questions. I walked into the operating room, IV in hand and laid down on the OR table and the next thing I remember is waking up and being introduced to Julie from The Hideaway Recover Center.
